  ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1976.  My themes have elements of Fantasy and Mystical subject matters.  The style is a development of impressionistic and expressionistic methods.  I have studied world philosophies and religions for much of my life.  This has helped to shape the subject matter of my drawings and paintings using oil pastels and oil paints.  It also has brought to my portals of view the construction of images that show human or human like forms peering out into our own realm of life.  I feel my impressionistic style complimented with the energies of expressionistic textures, fields of color and calligraphic lines portrays the esoteric messages of life forms speaking to us from the other side of the veil.  This is the type of sensibility I like to convey.  I always hold to the fundamental concept that art can both reflect the natural world around us and also communicate the possibilities of our dreams and imaginations.  And thus dreams and fantasies can be brought into view with our artist’s skills and abilities.  It is hoped that viewers will enjoy my work as much as reading a story, which transports them into another world generating feelings as real as the ones we share here.  My images can be considered a form of entertainment (enter into attainment) and meditation giving the mind a break from our ordinary world.  It is also hoped that the beings who populate my images will serve as guides to transport us to the feeling of being where they are.
