ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I have always created. From winning a competition award in the sixth grade to studying art at the University of Nebraska, art is a passion. For me creativity is another sense, a more complete sense that encompasses all others. To create is to smell, touch, see, and hear something and be moved to the point of "pouring" that experience into existence for others to share. I create to touch others in a language of sense that cannot be uttered by tongues or written in books. My hope is to speak this language through my art. It is a spiritual experience.
Often I use natural images such as trees, flowers, or shells, as symbols to touch upon a larger meaning. Trees have significant meaning to me. A tree reaches and touches the inner earth and stretches to touch the sun and stars. A tree connects. It is an image that fits my sense of self.
My hope is that each viewer may experience a moment to which no words may be spoken or written and that they may be touched.
